World Travel @ Bell HS
Spain 2012
The planned destination for Bell High School World Travel in 2012 is Spain. Assuming plans proceed as intended we will depart the week before Easter, returning on Easter Sunday. Our itinerary will include places of interest in Madrid, Toledo, Granada, Seville and either Gibraltar or Morocco. The highlight of this trip is likely to be the Alhambra, at least for some, for others it will be the possibility of seeing a soccer match, while still others will go for the food, for the language, or possibly for the falmenco dancing. As is now the custom we will also try to sneak in an evening of bowling. Applications are currently being accepted. Please don't delay if you are interested in this trip as there has been a very strong degree of interest expressed by Bell students.
Germany, Austria and Switzerland 2013 - Not Japan
Our travel in 2013 will be to Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The issues surrounding board sanctioned travel to Japan proved to be too great to overcome and so the resulting change in destination. We will instead get to see Vienna, Salzburg, Munich and Lucern. We will dance a waltz and eat schnitzel, see Dachau concentration camp and the Alps. Germany is a ten day tour, and this trip will once again take Bell students on a school sanctioned trip to destinations not previously visited.
England, Ireland and Wales 2014
The flight would take us to Shannon, Ireland from which we would tour the southern part of the island where we would see Killarney, the Ring of Kerry, Blarney Castle ending in Dublin. In Dublin we would visit Trinity College to see the Book of Kells. We would then cross the Irish Sea by ferry to Holyhead. We would drive through Wales and Snowdonia National Park, stopping to check out a Medieval Castle, before visiting Shakespeare's home in Stratford, and then Oxford University. We would then take in the sights of London. This trip can be extended by a couple of days to also include a Chunnel trip by way of the Eurostar train to Paris.
Interested students and or parents should contact Ms Lisa Hetherington or Mr Scott MacGregor, and are encouraged to visit our wiki site by going to the Bell High School home page and clicking on the "World Travel with EF Tours" hot button located part way down the page on the right hand side of the page. This will take you to a variety of information and photos of previous BHS trips.
Berlin, Prague, Krakow and Budapest 2015
The addition of this tour came as a surprise given the unexpected strength of interest shown in it by parents and students. All of the destinations on this trip will be new to Bell travelers with the exception of Berlin. The tour is ten days in length. The first day is likely to be an overnight flight to Berlin. The second day will start with a tour of Berlin and the Berlin Wall. On the third day we will see the Checkpoint Charlie Museum and there is an optional tour of Potsdam, which is highly recommend. Day four will take us through Dresden to Prague for a tour that will include Charles Bridge, St. Vitus Cathedral and the Golden Lane. On day six we will tour Auschwitz-Birkenau while transiting to Krakow. On day seven we will take a tour of Krakow including Wawel Cathedral. On eighth day we will leave Krakow for Budapest via Slovakia and the Tatra Mountains. Our last day of touring will entail a guided tour of Budapest with stops at Matthias Church and Budapest Basilica. On day ten be will be bound for home. This is an exciting itinerary including many areas of Europe never before journeyed to as a part of Bell world travel. It promises to be both exciting and informative.
