General Information

This is a grade 10 course. This course is a Technology course, and more information can be found at the Science and Technological Studies department. Prerequisites: None.

Course Description

This course examines computer hardware and the control of external components from an engineering perspective. Students will learn how to solve problems and will study the functions of key computer components and peripherals, logic gates, fundamental programming concepts, internal numbering and character representation systems, and operating systems and networks. Students will also develop an awareness of potential careers in the field of computer engineering.

This course is an open course, having one set of expectations and being appropriate for all students in a given grade. This course prepares students for more advanced classes in later years, or for a university, college or workplace setting. This course may not reflect a student's post-secondary goals, but are still relevant to everyone regardless of their post-secondary plans.
