General Information

Course Description

This course enables students to broaden their understanding of relationships and extend their problem-solving and algebraic skills through investigation the effective use of technology, and abstract reasoning. Students will explore quadratic relations and their applications; solve and apply linear systems; verify properties of geometric figures using analytic geometry; and investigate the trigonometry of right and acute triangles. Students will reason mathematically and communicate their thinking as they solve multi-step problems.

Prerequisite: Mathematics, Grade 9, Academic, or Mathematics Grade 9, Applied AND Mathematics Transfer course, Grade 9, Applied to Academic

In addition, this is a gifted course, as part of the school board's gifted program. Students that are currently eligable for the gifted program may choose to take this course, or any other course, instead of a regular course. For the non-gifted course, see MPM2D.

This course is an academic course, which focuses on the general concepts of this discipline and explores related concepts as well. This course uses abstract and theoretical applications of essential concepts and incorporates pratical applications when appropriate. This emphasis on theory and abstract thinking acts as a basis for futher problem solving.
