General Information

This is a grade 11 course. This course is is a Mathematics course, and more information can be found at the Math, Business and Computer Science department. Prerequisites: MPM2D.

Course Description

This course introduces the mathematical concept of the function by extending students' experiences with linear and quadratic relations. Students will investigate properties of discrete and continuous functions, including trigonometric and exponential functions; represent functions numerically, algebraically, and graphically; solve problems involving applications of functions; investigate inverse functions; and develop facility in determining equivalent algebraic expressions. Students will reason mathematically and communicate their thinking as they solve multi-step problems.

In addition, this is a gifted course, as part of the school board's gifted program. Students that are currently eligable for the gifted program may choose to take this course, or any other course, instead of a regular course. For the non-gifted course, see MCR3U.

This course is a university preparation course, which will prepare students for university by providing them with skills needed to enter university. This course focuses on independent learning using theoretical methods, with practical applications being used when nessesary.
