This is a grade 10 course. This course is a Interdisciplinary Studies course. If this is a Computer Science course, more information can be found at the Math, Business and Computer Science department. Otherwise, it falls under the scope of Student Services. Prerequisites: None.

Course Description

This course introduces students to computer science concepts. Students will learn about the stages in software design; the fundamental programming constructs of sequence, selection, and repetition; the functions of internal and external computer components; the relationship among networks, operating systems, and application software and their uses; and how programming languages evolve. Students will also develop an awareness of computer-related careers.

This course is an open course, having one set of expectations and being appropriate for all students in a given grade. This course prepares students for more advanced classes in later years, or for a university, college or workplace setting. This course may not reflect a student's post-secondary goals, but are still relevant to everyone regardless of their post-secondary plans.
