General Information
This is a grade 10 course. This course is a Canadian and World Studies, and more information can be found at the Canadian and World Studies department. Prerequisites: None.
Course Description
This course explores what it means to be an informed, participating citizen in a democratic society. Students will learn about the elements of democracy in local, national, and global contexts, about political reactions to social change, and about political decision-making processes in Canada. They will explore their own and others' ideas about civics questions and learn how to think critically about public issues and react responsibly to them.
This course is an ESL course. Those participating in the ESL program may choose to take this course. For the standard English course, see CHV2O.
This course is an open course, having one set of expectations and being appropriate for all students in a given grade. This course prepares students for more advanced classes in later years, or for a university, college or workplace setting. This course may not reflect a student's post-secondary goals, but are still relevant to everyone regardless of their post-secondary plans.
