General Information

This is a grade 10 course. This course is in the arts subject, which at Bell High School is in the Fine Arts department. Prerequisites: None.

Course Description

This course requires students to actively explore dramatic forms and techniques, using their own ideas and concerns as well as sources selected from a wide range of authors, genres, and cultures. Student learning will include identifying and using the principles of space, time, voice, and movement in creating, sustaining, and communicating authentic roles within a drama. Students will assume responsibility for decisions made in the creation and presentation of the drama and will analyze and reflect on the experience.

This course is an open course, having one set of expectations and being appropriate for all students in a given grade. This course prepares students for more advanced classes in later years, or for a university, college or workplace setting. This course may not reflect a student's post-secondary goals, but are still relevant to everyone regardless of their post-secondary plans.
