Hello,

We have made it! With exams now behind us for semester 2 we are entering the final phases of preparation for our convocation ceremonies where we will celebrate the academic accomplishments of graduates. Each graduate crossing the stage on Friday June 26, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Centrepointe Theatre will have successfully earned 30 credits, passed the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test, and completed 40 hours of community service. While the majority of our graduates have met all requirements, there remain a few who have not completed their CS hours. At this point as we prepare for Friday’s ceremony, the 11th hour has passed and the only way to allow us to include graduates in the ceremony at this point would be by personally delivering your hours to the guidance office no later than the end of the day Tuesday June 23, 2009. After this date, it really will be too late to include students in this Friday’s ceremony.Â

Many thanks go out to teachers and parents for your outstanding support once again this year. From a school perspective it has been an exciting one and we look forward to spending another year together with our returning students as well as our newest Bruins planning to join us in the Fall.

As the summer progresses, please be sure to watch my blog for up-to-date information concerning the first day of school and all of the activities surrounding this particular day. We are once again running our LINK program in support of grade 9′s and the difficult transition from their elementary schools to the secondary melieu. We once again this year endeavour to make this transition as seamless as possible and a significant amount of planning has already taken place.

Have a wonderful summer and I look forward to celebrating with families of our graduates this Friday morning at Centrepointe Theatre.

This coming Tuesday at our last staff meeting of the year, School Council and its participating parents are busy readying themselves for their second annual Staff Appreciation. Held for the first time last year, this event involves donations of food from interested parents for our final staff meeting of the year as a means of showing your appreciation for our wonderful teaching staff and all they do for your children, our students. If you are interested in donating food (veggies, fruit & yogurt, sweets of some sort, beverages, sandwich trays, etc) these items will be gratefully accepted and may be dropped off at the school during the day on Tuesday June 9, 2009. We have the means to refrigerate any items that require storage during the day. Thanks so much in advance for your ongoing support of our teaching staff!
